Sciatica

What Is Sciatica?

Sciatica is not a medical diagnosis, but a general term for symptoms caused by compression or irritation of the nerves running from the lower back to the legs. This can result in severe pain or numbness in the buttocks, thighs, calves, and feet.
It is often associated with orthopedic conditions such as herniated discs or spinal canal stenosis, most commonly affecting people in their 40s to 60s. Prolonged sitting and poor posture are also contributing factors.

In some cases, imaging tests may not reveal any abnormalities.

Many orthopedic conditions are difficult to diagnose, and even when pain or numbness is present, X-rays often show no abnormalities. In such cases, the pain or numbness is often due to myofascial issues (myofascial pain syndrome).

Our Approach

At Re:Light, we take an approach based on fascia‑related concepts, carefully acknowledging areas of tension and stiffness around the tissue.
By paying attention to body usage and movement connections, we support awareness of states that place less strain around the sciatic nerve area.
